Rage against Greed

Today’s New York Times (3/28/09) has several articles dealing with problems created by Greed in our society. The most salient one to me (Front Page Article) is the one about the two Pennsylvania judges that sent over 2500 juveniles to a private detention center that earned the two Greed-Addicts over $2.6 million in kickbacks. The article indicates that red flags began to appear in 1999 but were disregarded. It is easy to understand why; these judges were part of a privileged clique of an old-boys network that allowed them to flaunt their “earnings” without much questioning.

Of course, many in the nation and here in Pennsylvania are sincerely outraged about these incredible human right abuses (yes, America human right abuses are committed not only against suspected terrorists); young lives destroyed or highly compromised by Greedy Judges and private detention center administrators. The flags became deep red when PA State auditors were able to notice that the detention centers were systematically overbilling Luzerne County and the centers had begun falling behind in their bills and begun receiving shut-off notices from utility companies! We can safely stipulate from this experience and others to be referred to later that Greed-Addicts are like the most sordid of drug-addicts without any limit to what they can do. These people are the core of the Republicans Greed Machine, those that want Obama to fail so they can continue on their merry way.

Buried on the inside of today’s NYT Business section is an article about how Bernie Madoff’s London office had played a significant role in the multi-billion dollar fraud scheme. So we can safely stipulate that Madoff did not act alone on the swindle. Madoff’s wife is also clearly implicated in the scheme withdrawing significant sums of monies in the months prior to Madoff’s “confession”.

Now, these people that have destroyed many lives are still enjoying the luxury of their thievery, while I have a neighbor in my very middle class neighborhood that have received notice that a warrant for his arrest will be issued if he fails to pay $78.50 in back taxes!

Also buried in the same page there is an article about Bank of America being partner in a $380 million Ponzi scheme after setting up an office in Long Island, NY to carry out the fraudulent operation.

Today (3/28/09), at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA, dozens of fine Americans are getting together to discuss strategy to bring Single-Payer to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Their request makes total sense health-wise and economic-wise. Single-Payer is the method used by all other industrialized nations to provide efficient and cost-effective health care, but in PA as in the rest of the USA Single-Payer advocates have met against the highly organized Greed-Merchants of the health care industry. In USA, we have 47 million Americans with no health insurance whatsoever. Many millions more are with inadequate health insurance. During the housing bubble debacle at least half of the foreclosures can be attributed to health-care related bankruptcies. President Obama is trying to deal with this major problem, but I suspect that the Greed-Merchants of the health care industry are working together with those that are hoping that Obama will fail.

Dear Reader all that I refer to above has happened or reported about in just one day! I left out some other juicy stuff, but how many examples of Greed can we take?

Are we Lambs being led to the slaughter house? You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know this systemic corruption is unsustainable. This means that our way of life will disappear unless we correct immediately these deviations.

Our economy is being distrusted worldwide because the rest of the world doesn’t trust that we have what it takes to put the screws on the Greed-Addicts in our banking system. Timothy Geithner is going to try, but we are witnessing the performance of the pliable fools of the Greed Machine. Rush Limbaugh calls Obama’s attempt to put an end to the organized thievery to be socialism. Limbaugh and the other pliable fools have been calling for an uprising. Hofstra’s professor David Michael Green says in his fine article “The Republican Alternative Stimulus Plan” that the Republicans are committing political suicide with their political stand. But, as I stated before in my article “The Greed Machine prepares for Class War,” the Republicans main concern is not winning elections, but making it impossible for Obama to correct America’s problems. Their call for an uprising is not empty talk. It is a logical conclusion from their behavior.
